TF002
JADO is conducting phase II studies for its first-in-class allergy therapeutic, TF002, for topical treatment of cutaneous mastocytosis and atopic dermatitis. A systemic version of the compound is also being investigated in severe antihistamine resistant uticaria.
An initial multicenter, double-blinded, randomized, placebo and positive controlled phase II demonstrated a trend towards efficacy following treatment with topical TF002, including improved response in wheal and erythema size and mast cell number.
The site of action for TF002 is the first step in mast cell activation – the immune response to allergens, such as pollen or dust mites, and involves clustering of the IgE antibody receptor in RAFTs. The resulting immune cascade results in release of immune modulators and allergic reaction. TF002 intervenes in upstream receptor activation, whereas the market leaders, antihistamines and steroids, target downstream events. This novel mode-of-action is highly specific and offers clear advantages over existing drugs.
